The boys and I just returned from a whirlwind trip to Ohio to celebrate my grandmother's 80th birthday. Below is a picture of me, my brother, sister and grandmother.

Grandma got to enjoy a big luncheon in her honor. Among the guests were (almost) all of her great-grandchildren (pictured below), all of her children, many of her grandchildren, and all of her living siblings. She had 10 brothers and sisters, and three of them are still living. I think that she really enjoyed herself and was grateful for the celebration.
While we were in town, we stopped by Tuscora Park with my other grandparents, GG and G-pa. Brax really enjoyed all of the rides and Brody even got to join in on the train. Grandpa just had surgery two weeks ago. He sure looks like he's back in business, doesn't he?? Of course we enjoyed some time with Momo and Papa too, but I didn't get any pictures of the boys with them. While I was in town, I got to spend a quick hour with my best friend, Kristy. We've been best friends since we had big hair and were in the New Kids on the Block fan club. Kristy is one of the most genuine people that I know. What you see is what you get. We've been through a lot of things together and I believe that she's truly one of my greatest gifts from God. An encourager by nature, you never leave Kristy's presence without feeling better about yourself. She has the ability to make me laugh in just about any circumstance and has taught me the art of never taking myself too seriously. She and her husband, Matt, are in the process of adopting a baby boy from Ethiopia. You can read about their journey here. They've spent so much time in prayer, asking for God's guidance, and then in stillness, waiting for His responses. I love Kristy dearly and she is such an inspiration to me. When I met her for coffee on Sunday, it was cloudy. The rain came down hard while we talked and laughed, but the sun was out by the time we left the cafe. That's how I always feel when I leave Kristy- like the sun has come out. So, I had to say all of this and ask for your prayers as they continue on this journey of adoption. She's a beautiful woman- mom, wife, daughter, friend. She strives to find God's individual calling for her life, then lives that mission to the best of her ability. I pray that I can follow her example. Sweet Jeremiah is very blessed that he will get to call her "mommy" soon!
