It's January 4th. As I put the finishing touches on this December blog, I will be completing my third post for the day. If you hadn't guessed, "keep blog updated" made the list of New Year's resolutions. I actually love this time of year. Despite the freezing temperatures outside (which I loathe, by the way), there is something refreshing about having a new slate. The Christmas decorations are down and the house is (mostly, kinda, sorta) clean. All of the presents have been put away in their designated spots and the to-do lists of the holidays are a distant memory. I feel like I can pull out all of those 'someday' things and start working on them. I want to get back into my Bible study with unwavering predictability. I want to save (and print) a year's worth of pictures. I want to clean out the files to make room for everything that will clutter them in the year of 2010. And I want to update the blog at least twice a month. We'll see. It's a goal :) So, here I sit trying to recount all of the events of December, 2009. I have countless pictures to document the big things, but there are other things that I would like to remember years down the road.
December started with our church's annual Breakfast with Santa. The ladies that organize this event always do an AMAZING job of planning the song service, crafts, decorations, breakfast, and, of course, the time with Santa. I had high hopes for how the boys would react to the Jolly Old Elf. After all, they were both eager to talk to our Elf on the Shelf, Elmer, about the big man and had been unbelievable eager to help with decorations and all things Christmas -related. Brax carefully wrote out his list, (which included a cat (meaning wow-wee leopard) and a red car)and dutifully took it to Santa. He was a little timid, but as you can see, he put on a big smile and posed for Mommy's camera....
Clearly, Brody was less enthusiastic and promptly stated "Santa is a monster." Oh well, better luck next year :)

An outdoor, live nativity scene was included in the breakfast this year and the boys both loved petting the animals and seeing the "baby Jesus."
The next week held an appointment with Dr. John for the boys' yearly physicals. Unfortunately, we occupied a room for close to an hour between both boys well visits as well as breathing treatments and vaccinations. I don't think that we've had a single day where we've all been well in at least 2 months. But, I digress. I only mention the physicals because I'm in the habit of recording their stats in the hope that I will (someday) print this blog. Maybe next year's New Year's resolution :) So they were as follows:
Brax at 4 years- 40.5 inches (40%), 38lb (59%) He had lost a little weight from being sick and normally weighs around 40lb, which would put him a little closer to the 75%
Brody at 2 years- 37 1/4 inches (97%), 36 1/2 lb (99%), head circumference-52.5 cm (>99%). Huge. That's all there is to say about Brody.
In addition, we visited the Opryland Hotel with our good friends, Stew and Angie, to see the sights and lights. The boys loved it and we actually got a family pic!
The boys had their preschool Christmas program on the 17th and they were both precious!! It was sweet to see them both up there, singing their little hearts out and playing their 'instruments.' Here is Brody playing his jingle bell and singing "Happy Christmas."
And here he is "rocking the baby Jesus"....
Brax got excited when he saw us in the crowd.....
Putting on a sweet smile as part of the program...

Brax's class with Santa and Mrs. Claus

Mommy and Brax... who did not want to stop 'partying' long enough for a pic with Mommy

Brax with Santa and the Mrs... he was a little more timid than he was at Breakfast with Santa...

Brody hadn't really warmed up to the big man... and told everyone that he knew that "Daddy saved me from Santa!"

Bro giving some hugs to one of his teachers, Miss Sheryl!

And a sweet smile for Mommy....

We got an early Christmas gift on December 22nd. Josh accompanied me to my big ultrasound and it was revealed that our sweet baby is a GIRL!!! I asked them to look several times and Josh asked the ultrasound tech just how sure she was. I was convinced that it was a boy, but Josh was leaning toward a girl all along. She looked precious and perfect and it is no less of a miracle to feel her flipping and kicking in my tummy than it was with the first two. When I told Brax that he was having a little sister, he said, "I know, I told you that." I guess that everyone knew but me :) She doesn't have a name yet. We're working on that....
Next came Christmas... We were blessed to have Mimi and Papa with us for Christmas this year. The boys were so excited on Christmas Eve and had difficulty falling asleep. They exchanged gifts before going to bed. Here they are playing with their toys....

They carefully chose cookies (that they had helped to bake) and put them beside some carrots on Santa's plate....

And don't you know... SANTA CAME!!!!!
The boys got everything they asked for... and much, much more!!!
Brody asked for a piano and a microphone, so here we are, playing in his band :)

And after an exciting morning (that started rather early), we all needed a little rest....

The morning after Christmas, we packed up the car and headed to Momo and Grandpa's house for a second Christmas celebration....

We even got to go to the zoo to see the Christmas lights. Brax was undaunted by the blizzard, while Brody screamed at the snow to go home.

Of course, the boys and Trevi rarely get to see snow, so it was fun for them to play in the white stuff...

We also fit in a trip to see GG Marie and spend a little Christmas with her...

GG and G-pa got the boys guitars, which have been a huge hit!!! Here's Brody playing a song for G-pa.....
As well as with GG and G-pa....

And last, but not least, we got to spend a little time with my best friend, Kristy, and her husband and kiddos. We got to meet her new son, Jeremiah, and he is the sweetest thing you've ever met!!
Jack taught Brax how to play the Wii....
Brody and Jeremiah were great buddies.....
And they sat still for a short minute so that I could capture a picture of them all together!!!

Congratulations on the news that you are having a girl! That's so exciting. Now you get to pick out all of the cute little girl clothes. I'm a little jealous of that!
