Last night at was Parade of Bible Characters at church. This is where the kids dress up like some well-known (or obscure) Bible character or concept and the chrurch tries to guess what they are. It was my first experience at attempting to construct a costume- and I use the term "costume" loosely. Our little group did the days of creation and Brax was assigned Day 2- Sky. As I sat on the floor and cut out "clouds," tried to effectively attach those clouds to a blue sweatshirt (in between pulling needles and thread out of Brax's chubby little grip), wiped Brax's pouring nose, and wondered if I would, indeed, get to put on makeup any time in the day, it occurred to me that this is truly what motherhood is all about. I remember my mother in that very scene (with many different variations, of course). Hand-made Halloween costumes being constructed at 12am while pumpkin cookies baked and lunches were being made for the next day...running out to Kroger at 6pm to get poster board for my project that was due the next day... the list goes on and on. One of the many hats of motherhood. But, when those little hands reach up and that little voice says "MaMa", you know that being a costume designer is one of the best-paying jobs in the whole world... if not the most glamorous.

Day 2- God made the sky

Parker- Day 1 Light and Dark, Brax- Day 2 Sky, Avery- Day 3 Plants, Eli and Jay- Day 4 Sun Moon and Stars, Xander and Paisley- Day 5 Birds and Fish

Drew and Ben- Day 6 Animals and Man and Fenley (not pictured) Day 7 God rested

It's really tough being the sky... Whew what a long day!
