Last Thursday, Josh and I celebrated four years of marital bliss.... Okay, maybe "bliss" is stretching it a wee tiny bit, but we're about as close as you come, I think :) It's so hard for me to believe that it has been four whole years since we uttered the infamous "I Do." Those years have flown by!!! Josh brought me four dozen roses to commemorate the occasion, and we celebrated with a nice dinner- ALONE- thanks to Aunt Kristin and Uncle Rob. I could go on and on... but anyone who knows me knows how much I love my hubby.... Happy Anniversary, Josh. Here's to 50++++ more!
In addition, Brax and I hopped a plane to the Buckeye State (as mentioned in previous blog), to spend some time with MoMo and Grandpa. We had a completely "unscheduled" visit- meaning no specific reason, no places to be or things to do... Just hanging out and enjoying our time together. MoMo got Brax a little pool (which made its home on the deck of the bigger pool), which he enjoyed for approximately 30 minutes. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very cooperative.
Of course, Grandpa spent time reading to Brax (when he could get him to sit still and pay attention), in order to cultivate his genius development. This makes sense, as he previously earned his wages as an English teacher. MoMo, on the other hand, encouraged having fun. She pushed Brax around on a little train, played with him on the swings, and even allowed him to bang all of her pots and pans together. MoMo and Grandpa really know how to compliment one another. Perhaps that's why I turned out so well :)
Our visit included a Saturday morning trip to the Columbus Zoo with Kristy, Jack, and our moms (On a side note, I highly recommend the zoo to anyone visiting Columbus. It puts the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere to shame! I guess that's what you get when you have Jack Hannah- the king of the zoo- behind your establishment :), The boys were especially intrigued by the enormous aquarium. I must confess, it was pretty impressive, even to an adult.
Great Grandma and Great Grandpa provided us with a Monday full of treats. I was transported back to my childhood as we sat on the porch swing and enjoyed popsicles. We even ventured out to Tuscora Park to ride the merry-go-round and the train. I spent many summers with my grandparents doing these exact things and it was so much fun to watch Brax enjoying the activities of my childhood. I must say, my grandparents kept up with Brax just as well as they used to keep up with us. Age hasn't slowed them a bit!
The Old Gang!!! Brax and I spent Tuesday night with my best friends from high school. The five of us (Tonya, Bethany, myself, Kristy and Bree) spent four years- eight seasons- together, cheering the Eagles to victory. These girls are the reason that I am one of the few people in the world that would gladly go back go high school. We grew up together, shared the drama of adolescence together , cried together, and laughed until some of us (who will remain anonymous) quite literally peed our pants. The memories that we made... the inside jokes... the hilarious videos that we made that are still viewed on special occasions... the friendship that we shared. Those are the things in this life for which there is no price. I miss spending time with them for so many reasons. It was so nice for us to all be together again, even if it was for only one night.
It's hard to believe that all of us are married, three of us have children (see above photo :), and it has been ten years since we started our senior year of high school. Time flies. The picture above is of Bailee (Tonya's daughter), Brax and Jack. Aren't they adorable???
And so today we are back home, recovering from yet another travel adventure. I would fill you all in on more fun details of our trip, but it has literally taken me half of the day to get this done (in between the grocery store, laundry, and constantly removing Brax from various unsafe temptations). So, with all of that said, I will sign off until next week... or whenever a blog opportunity presents itself!
